Grey held my left hand and pulled me to the extremely long ticket line. "This stupid ass line is so fucking long and that guy is so slow, we'll probably get our tickets when the carnival closes", the oh-so familiar voice said in front of us. "Cam", he turned around to see me, along with the girl he was with. She was so fucking beautiful by the way; bright green eyes, brown hair and she looked Mexican and very familiar. "Evie, you're here, Ari, meet Eve, my friend and Eve, meet Ari, my new girlfriend", he pointed to her and I shook hands with her. She looked so fucking familiar but I couldn't put my finger on where exactly I'd seen her before.

And I knew right then that everything would be okay, just like what Evan mumbled. Aoibhe, Evan’s sister, was a different story, though. If his mom greeted me with an embrace, the girl with blond hair like Evan tackled me to the ground when she came downstairs, resulting in both of us landing on their warm carpeted floor. Evan and Laoise scolded her. But I told them I was okay. She acts as if we’ve been friends since we were little, and I kinda love it that way.

Josephine asked with a smile, but it only made Evie frown. The last time Evie saw Josephine, her sister had cursed her, seething with hatred after Evie's mistake years ago. A mistake. Evie had slept with Finn and was caught by Klaus. That mistake haunted her, breaking her sister and traumatizing Klaus. It had caused a fight so fierce that Evie hated herself for it. Now, Josephine, who had once despised her, was smiling as if nothing had happened. Could she have forgiven her? "Are you crying?" Josephine asked as Ava looked on, unimpressed.

“I’m Evie.” “Zoe,” I say, shaking her hand. “And this is my brother, Bastion,” I add, pointing to him over my shoulder. She gives him a small wave and blushes as she takes him in. “What course are you on?” I ask her, trying to distract her from Bastion. “Economics and business,” she says. “You?” “Same,” I say, and grin at her again. Evie and I chat as we make our way to comms for lunch, and she joins me at the table with Corrine, Briar, and Talia. She’s sweet, a little shy at first, but once she relaxes she fits in well with the others.

She'd been born here in Charleston to a wealthy family of French descent, the youngest of four children, and had become engaged in 1910 to a French businessman. Sam guessed that the start of the war in Europe had curtailed their marriage - maybe her fiancé had been killed, maybe he'd just gotten caught up in the fighting, but there was no notice of his death in any records Sam could find. Evie's death though - he finally found a more detailed accounting of that in a local guide to haunted houses.
