Lucian leaped up on the mattress and pressed his nose on her hand. He shook his head and grinned. "Would you like me to rub your belly as well?" Peter and Silva returned their gaze. A wolf that would bear his belly to another showed great trust in the other, yet Lucian sniffed her crotch. Ravena smiled and pushed his head away. Silva laughed and switched on the television. Peter watched Lucian and Ravena for another minute, then focused on the door as Lucian rested his head on her lap. "I'm Bruin Stillwater," the red pack leader introduced himself to Jake below.

I looked back at the werewolf, unable to tell if this was Cadell or not. It was the same darkness, but the eyes weren’t silver. It was completely dark. Pitch black. But somehow, I felt connected to it. Like I’ve known it all my life. Something cracked under the force, a sickening snap crunching beside his ear. Blood sprayed from the wolf's snout, a river that bubbled as panic embedded in the dying warrior's chest. The fur of Connor's back was coated, his victory guaranteed in mere seconds.

I didn't question my father's obsession with wolf artifacts and legends, I didn't question why she wore a protective necklace against something that only existed in my books. I didn't question how my father died, I didn't question anything. I just let life go with me, I let it heal from all the things that were left behind to move on. I focus a bit more and notice that one of the wolves is Sylas; he has to be fighting Laslo. Sylas is a huge gray wolf, bigger than Laslo’s white wolf. Laslo’s wolf is swiping at Sylas, and his claws connect here and there. Sylas twists his body and kicks Laslo’s wolf, sending it flying into a tree. Laslo’s wolf lays at the base of the tree, sprawled out. Sylas marches to the tree base and hovers over Laslo’s wolf, snarling and biting. His jaw reaches over and grabs at the white wolf’s neck.
