By the time I got back to the packhouse, it was already after dark and I went into the living room where Lucas, Jude and Aria were watching the News. I wasn’t wrong about the riots. Cities all over the country were going up in flames. They were actually filming humans being attacked and killed by vampires. I was watching Lucas as he was fixated on the TV and I could see how intensely he was watching the TV. But it was now sunrise, and the vampires were running from the scenes of these riots. Running back to their hideouts so they didn’t burn in the sun. That was the only reprieve that we were going to have at the moment.

It seems like the bones are cracking and the body give a ear-splitting screech which make Heather cover her ears to avoid a bleed and turn to the body shock to see the person is not dead. Heather get up on her feet and move back as the body begin to move his body like a zombie from movies. Scared out of her mind, Heather run back to her car and ignite the car reversing back and make an escape. Heather drive back home and get out of the car with her whole body trembling from the horror she has just witnessed. The door is not locked like she believe it will be so she make her way in and rush to the toilet before anyone could see the blood on her jeans.

Without touching it, I can tell that it's as sharp as little needles growing from the inside of her body. Horror is flooding me. I want to scream at this scene that I am witnessing. The smell, the sound of ripping skin, and the strange sight of seeing mom and dad falling apart and forming a totally different kind of creature is messing with my head. More bone cracks. The air around us seemed to vibrate with anticipation, and I sensed that something was about to shift, to change in ways I couldn't yet comprehend. I stumbled backward, my eyes wide with horror, as the ground beneath our feet began to churn and convulse. The earth split open, and a legion of the dead burst forth, their bony fingers clawing at the air as they pulled themselves up from the depths of the underworld. The sound was like nothing I'd ever heard before, a cacophony of scraping, scratching, and unearthly moans that sent shivers down my spine.
