he says emphatically, “I knew you could do it! What did they tell you? What have you found out?”
“I’ve found out that you own their headquarters,” I tell him, “And I don’t understand what the hell is going on here.”
His silence is deafening. His face is blank. He either has no idea what I’m talking about, or he’s a damn good actor. And I don’t know what to believe.
“I own it,” August replies, his confusion evident, “What do you mean I own it? How could I own it?”
“That’s what I’d like to know,” I yell at him furiously, “How is that possible? How could you do it? To your own kind?To your own FAMILY? How could you help those savages? Why?”
