Just a broken prophet murmuring to the empty air. "That's tragic. That's tragic. That's tragic." Nathan stepped forward slowly. "Ezekiel?" The prophet didn't respond. Didn't even seem to hear. Nathan took another step. Then another. He was close enough to touch when Ezekiel finally moved. His head lifted. His eyes—gods, his eyes—were wrong. Too wide. Too dark. Like someone had poured the cave's shadows directly into them. His lips moved, forming words that might have been prayers or curses or both.

Ezekiel stunned in reverse, letting the transformation finish and the agony die down. The sound of blasts sounded into the desolated desert. Abbadon searched for the reason for the blasts and saw one by one, her portals were shutting. Someone opened a new portal underneath Ezekiel's foot, and he fell directly into it to drop out from another on the sky. He landed yards from her, and that maddened him as his Queen was left without security.

Ezekiel gave a cold stare that seemed to make anybody docile in his presence. Ezekiel strode towards the back entrance, and as they stepped outside, a breathtaking scene unfolded before them. The grass was awash in shades of lilac and violet, creating a surreal and stunning landscape. The trees towered overhead, their beauty surpassing those of the ones outside. And ahead lay a vast pool, its shimmering waters reflecting the vibrant hues of the surroundings.

Silence. The mortals head slumped in his grasp. Ezekiel smiled, his eyes still closed he let a little bit more of his impressions pour across the mortals mind, soft warmth, peace, relaxation. He impressed these thoughts in a loop of energy and suggestion until he felt it take root, like a little blanket of energy the memory would slowly play out on its own, fading from the mortals mind completely, but he hoped that the peace and warmth would remain once his memories faded from Brandon's mind. The mortal seemed to need it.

Am I supposed to read something in between? But how can I when I don't even have any idea of what's there to read? "What should I do?" I asked in a low voice. Ezekiel straightened his back as he let go of my hand. He averted his eyes in front of us. "Normally, it's best to hide you at times like this." A small yet dangerous smirk appeared on the side of his lips. "But who does that kind of stupidity?" He averted his eyes on me again. "Baby, there's no Queen who hides. And I would never make you that kind of Queen." Ezekiel lifted his hand to caress my cheek. "We have a hell to conquer, and that's how we'll work."

"Take care of yourself, and remember, you can always come back." Ezekiel. Even until the end, he looked out for me. I clamped my eyes and uttered a prayer for him. Always. He had always took care of me. And just when I thought nothing seemed to be working out for me, I get blessed. I sighed and closed the pouch again. Now that I have enough money to get an apartment, I should start looking for one.

∆EZEKIEL POV∆ "Ezekiel… open your eyes." That voice reached me from somewhere far away, cutting through the fire, through the smoke, through the sound of collapsing walls and screaming voices. For a moment, I still couldn’t tell what was real. The flames were everywhere. That little boy was crying. The man was burning while shielding him. And that lullaby… God, that lullaby wouldn’t stop echoing inside my head, soft and broken, like it had carved itself into my bones.

***Ezekiel’s POV*** I sat in my office looking down at the paperwork in front of me. The same paper had been in front of me for the last half hour but I couldn’t bring myself to comprehend what I was reading. My mind wandered more and more lately. In my dreams, I found myself back at the High Council, roaming the corridors of castle. It was a never ending maze and at every turn I could smell him; fresh baked bread and basil.

“Ezekiel happy birthday!” I saw a female give another version of Elijah a bouquet of bluebells. He accepted with a smile before on his face before he brought the flower to his nose. “They smell absolutely beautiful, Bell.” Ezekiel said before he stood up from his seat. “I have another surprise for you.” Bell said as the lights focused on her grey eyes. “What is it?” He asked as Bell gave a mischievous and proud smile. She took Ezekiel’s hand and placed on her stomach before she smiled brightly.
