Ezra paced the confines of his private chamber at the first hint of dawn, each step echoing on the stone floor, his thoughts as restless as his movements. Shadows lay strewn across the walls, faintly receding in the growing light, but the darkness in his mind refused to fade. He was consumed by the unrelenting knowledge that a traitor moved within these very halls, someone he had once trusted, now plotting to tear apart everything he had built. His jaw clenched involuntarily, the sharp tension radiating all the way down into his shoulders, as he tried to make sense of how everything had gone so wrong.
