The air thickens, humming with energy. A soft, golden light weaves through the lines of the map like veins, traveling in pulses, faster and faster. Then... Snap. Sparks crackle and pop as tiny burn marks begin to appear all over the map. I pull my hands back and watch, heart pounding. The burns are uneven, some faint, barely a singe, and others darker, smoldering with more heat. They cluster in patterns.

Mayari's eyes then snapped open, her now glowing blue eyes travelled from her magic to the high ceiling. And with one swift movement she tossed the ball of thunder above.
