No matter how good a dream is, we always have to snap back from it. All fairy tales usually have a happy ending, the prince saves the princess from an ogre, a knight in shining armor saves a lady from a hulky brute of a man and so forth. But the world lies, that is not what always happens. Fairy tales rarely have a happy ending. The prince will save the princess and trip down some stairs, fall down and break his neck. Or the lady will live for a few years as a wife to the night and die from child birth. The story tellers never give the actual tale, the sell what appeases to the eye and heart.

He didn't say how and when it will happen but it was evident in his prophecy that the fairy will contain the same physical features as the previous fairy Mariposa who had died.

CHAPTER 18 DAYLIGHT AIDEN I write and sometimes I paint. At first I started with writing stories, stories of strong heroes who went off to distant lands to vanquish powerful foes and bring honor to their kingdoms. I wrote of princesses trapped in magical towers, fated to live a life dictated by their horrible conniving mother but through the power of true love and determination manage to free themselves from such a fate. One time I wrote of a ghost that haunted a village for a hundred years but that ghost was actually a misunderstood little boy longing for a friend.

In the evenings, around the hearths of home, we teach the rules by which we share this world with the brethren through story. Tales of lovers separated by misfortune, the vain punished with disfigurement, of knights enchanted into forever sleep, and of princesses locked into towers. We seek out Seers to foretell the future, and mages to bespell swords, but are wary of the Fae with their costly altruism and deceptive beauty, the mischief of household imps, and sirens who sing ship to wreckage.
