The cold bit through my clothes. We reached the cliff. “No—!” I gasped. “Let go—” I dug my heels in. The earth gave way and the edge crumbled. I was falling— And then— Caught. Vael’s arm slammed around my waist, yanking me back. His chest struck my spine. We staggered as the wind howled around us. His breath grazed my ear. “You reckless, gods-damned—” The ground broke beneath us as we fell. ——

His large hand reached out to grab the front of my shirt. In that last second of darkness, I did not look at his face. I closed my eyes tightly, took a deep breath and pulled my arms as tight as they could go around my lower stomach. I wanted to protect the tiny life growing inside me with my whole body. ‘Forgive me, Dominic,’ I thought. Then, I leaned backward into the empty air. I let my feet leave the solid rock. I threw my body off the edge of the cliff. I fell straight down into the loud white storm of the freezing canyon below.

He stepped back his heel, over the air. "No!" I screamed. The world slowed down. I saw Thorne let go I saw the bundle fall. I did not think, I did not pray. I threw myself off the cliff.

I growled right before falling off the edge of the cliff. My stomach shook inside me as I fell. The sky was a blur. The howl of wind rushed through my ears. I saw above me the person with Sierra still running, going more and more distant. I couldn’t believe I had lost her. No! I gritted my teeth, twisting my body in the air as I fell. The ground was almost here but I was ready. A loud boom echoed as I slammed into the hard rock solid ground below, the impact creating a large crater beneath me. Dirt, dust and rocks immediately began to rise into the air. Everything was silent for a while.

As the storm raged on, I embraced the wildness within me, knowing that it would carry me through the darkest of nights. As I made my way towards the cliff edge, I glanced over my shoulder to find three ominous silhouettes drawing nearer to me. I couldn't explain it, but I sensed that my only chance of survival was to take the leap. Peering downwards, I peeped into an abyss where the ground vanished from sight. Turning my gaze back, I realized that the trio of dark figures had dangerously closed the distance. With a pounding heart, I shut my eyes tightly and hurled myself over the edge. The act of plunging off the cliff abruptly jolted me awake, my body instinctively sitting upright in bed.

He crashed into it, knocking both of them off the cliff. I gasped in shock. I rushed to the edge of the cliff and when I stared down, my heart tumbled to my stomach. All I saw was the rough, rocky plains below, hundreds of huge boulders that could have killed Malric from the massive fall. Ginger completely lost it, purring sadly, slithering uncomfortably and squirming with the agony of potentially losing Malric.

Samuel placed me behind him, his arms wide open to protect me. Numerous enemies were lined up before us. There’s no escape for us. I kept on stepping back while Samuel remained standing tall in front of me. My chest was full of anxiety and fear for the both of us. I continued to step back without looking back until I felt my feet stepping against nothing. One another step, my entire body turned jelly as I let myself fall off a cliff. A loud scream came out of my lips but it was too late—-to late for Samuel to hold me. He immediately turned and tried to clutch my arm, but his palm only slid against my skin.

Everybody kept walking forward; suddenly, I felt a strong palm push me so hard that I couldn't maintain my stamina anymore, and fell off, beginning to tumble down the dark cliff, like I was falling into the unknown. “Help!!!” I screamed out.
