Suddenly, Jayden’s voice roared from behind. “Emma—move!” I turned just as he sprinted toward us. But it was too late. The rock beneath our feet gave a sickening crack. Time slowed. Ever and I both looked down. The cliff’s edge splintered, breaking away. We fell. The world tilted, sky spinning above me. But then—Jayden’s arms. Strong, desperate. He caught me mid-fall, barely anchoring himself on solid ground as I dangled over the side. My hands gripped his forearms tightly, breath ragged.

Alex backed up a step and turned around. He let out a loud gasp of panic and he realized now that there was no chance any of their enemies could ever breach the Citadel’s wall here. Just in front of him, the ground suddenly dropped away into a steep cliffside. The cliff dropped so far down that Alex could not see the bottom in the middle of the night. One more step back and he would have fallen right down into the abyss below. The sudden sight scared him so much that could feel his balance faltering.

"Why do I go down under the cliff in the middle of the night? I don't even have a buckle. I'll be a meat pie if I fall!" Climbing down the rope for a couple of meters, Ding Hao was feeling a little desperate. His prophecy had unfortunately come true. Before he could finish his words, there went a snap. The seemingly solid rope actually snapped in the middle of it. Ding Hao was scared as hell. Before he could look up, he felt the gravity and fell down like a meteor. He was like a falling star. Before he could react, Ding Hao tumbled down and landed upon the bumps of the cliff wall. He was bleeding and feeling the ache in his bones as if he had been chopped into pieces.

OLIVIA We stand there, engaged in a staring contest. Of course I lose because in my defense his eyes aren’t really the type you’d like to look into for a long time. It feels like they’ll drag you into the plainness of them. “I’m out of here,” I mutter under my breath and try to push past him. He’s not even trying to be gentle at this point, he pushes my shoulders hard enough that I stumble and fall to the floor. It hurt, really bad. I could feel my fingers slipping as the ground was icy and I could hear tiny rocks fall downwards as I swung on my wavering balance, don't look down Nyx! Don't look down! Don't look down! I chided myself but I did the opposite. My gaze travelled downwards and I gulped in fear of ever falling from this place. The wolves whom were howling the other time were down there prancing waiting for another prey and it wouldn't be a pretty sight if I was to fall down.

I asked in my mind trying to comprehend it. Our morning class ended while I was out on my own world. I can also hear the rumors about the incident happened in the morning but I don’t care. We are currently in the cafeteria today. "Jules, Shells", I call their attention. They turned to me and asked me if I was okay. "Do you know what a falling game is?", I asked them again. Jules stopped eating and Shelly choked so I handed her some water. "Why Ty? Did you receive a letter?" Jules asked worriedly.

As I’m running I feel a sharp, burning pain go through my side and as I fall to the ground I hear someone shout, “I hit one, she’s down” I can hear footsteps hurriedly making their way towards me, I crawl a ways ahead of me and find the edge of a cliff. It’s too dark, there’s no way to know how far down it goes. I decide to take my chances and drag myself over the edge. I fall down a ways and land on a ledge that gives way under my weight and I slide down the side of the mountain. ***

He lost his balance and tumbled toward the edge of the cliff. Griffin's eyes widened in shock as he realized what was happening. He tried to regain his balance, but it was too late. He too fell toward the edge of the cliff. Sarah's eyes locked onto Nicholas's face, her heart pounding in her chest. "Nicholas!" she screamed, her voice piercing the air. Nicholas and Griffin both plummeted over the edge of the cliff, their bodies arcing through the air before splashing into the ocean below. I had been walking for hours, trying to clear my mind, escape the crushing weight of the life I’d left behind and the shadows still chasing me. I didn’t mean to go that far. I reached the cliff without realizing it, drawn forward by a whisper I couldn’t place, a memory I was desperate to hold onto. The ground gave way beneath me. I fell.

My eyelids were getting heavy and I couldn't hold them open. I fell to the floor and felt myself roll down and over the cliff. My bones cracked and merged and I shifted in mid-air as I fell. With a heavy thud, my body hit the sharp jutting rocks at the bottom of the cliff, it was a great fall. The dark sky and the twinkling stars were the last things I saw before I was enveloped in darkness.
