Piper faced the stack of clothes and shivered again. "Suck it up, Piper. If he wanted you dead, you'd already be in the ground," she muttered. She stripped out of her dress and donned the black T-shirt and plaid blue boxers she'd been provided. The boxers were actually just the right size for her full figure.

Piper "You guys, please stop," Eve pleaded to her friends, acting the part of the suffering peacekeeper. "Piper, don't mind them. Let's just go." She stepped closer, wrapping her arm around mine in a forced hug. I let out a sigh, the exhaustion of the morning finally catching up to me. I pulled my arm out of her grasp and looked her dead in the eye. "Eve, I honestly don't have time for whatever game you're playing right now. Stop bothering me."

WREN’S POV I woke up to a loud bang on the door, someone trying to bring it down. I groaned, wanting to go back to sleep, then realized my hands were inside my pants, and I was having a very wet dream. I scrambled from the bed with wide eyes, staring around. I was back at the pack, and the usual routine must be continued. The sun was already out. SHIT! I’m doomed before the day even begins. Making my way to the door, I opened it to see Piper on the other side, holding a large jug in her hand. Before I could react, she poured it all over me. The water was freezing, biting into my skin.

He looked like he’d been dragged through a gravel pit. "We’ve lost fourteen more since noon," he said, his voice a flat, dead drone. "Old Harek is gone. He took three of their Alphas with him when he blew the stone-trap on the west ledge. And little Pip..." He choked for a second, then swallowed hard. "Pip didn't make it back from the pitch-pots. He ignited the barrels, but he was too close." Pip. He was twelve. He hadn't even had his first shift. He’d volunteered to crawl through the brush because he was the smallest.

They bowed their heads in unison, hands clasped behind their backs. "Welcome, Chairperson Lyra," they chimed, their voices synchronized. Piper's smile gleamed, calculated and cold. She swept past the welcoming committee, Harrison trailing in her wake. Piper stepped into the opulent foyer, her heels clicking on marble. Harrison followed, his eyes scanning the space before settling on her. "I'll freshen up," he said, flashing a reassuring smile. "Then, We'll go pay our respect to our baby. I would at least set my eyes on his graveyard," Harrison whimpered. He ran into the room, trying his best not to cry in her presence.

Yorick says, sliding his hand back into mine. “Well, now I’m in a bad mood,” Piper says. “Maybe you’re hangry, Hellfire. Let’s go get lunch,” Zach says. “You and your nicknames,” I say, laughing. “Hey, if the nickname fits, who am I to argue. Piper’s got that fiery red hair and a temper to match. I love the passion,” he says, winking at her. “Stop flirting with me,” she says, shaking her head, but her lips are twitching.

Piper’s voice cut through the chaos, causing the room to still. “I stopped being that the night you rejected me,” she said, her teeth clenched. She inhaled slowly, then straightened. “I can’t believe I’m only saying this now,” Piper continued, her voice clear. She looked straight at Rollins. “I, Piper Moore, accept your rejection, Rollins Lancaster of Crescent Moon, with the Moon Goddess as my witness.” Rollins’ breath hitched. “No, Piper, wait—” But it was too late. “All right, buddy,” one guard said as they seized him firmly. “Time to go.”

Riley roared angrily. "Come on Riley, this is a one time opportunity, at least let's go and come with anything they give us. Riley, do you know this is a great offer? The Walter Empire doesn't accept people anyhow. So right now, we need to gain their trust and show them how punctual we are,"Piper uttered, sitting on the wooden chair. Piper could only hear Riley snore, "Pervert, how can she be sleeping despite explaining everything to her"She muttered, gritting her teeth.

“Hi… this is Piper. I got your contact from Diana. I need someone tailed and I need information on this person for the next twenty-four hours. It’s urgent.” “Understood,” she said quickly. “Send me the picture, and I’ll begin tonight.” I opened my gallery and hesitated before sending Bryan’s old photo .. his face smiling, alive. My hands trembled. “His name is Bryan. I need to know where he is, if he’s alive, or if someone’s pretending to be him.” “I’ll get into it,” she said, her tone clipped and professional. “Expect updates soon.”

I was sure that he’d want his own place if he ended up staying here long term. Piper took it upon herself to tell him about the pack, at least what she’d experienced so far, and how much fun training was. She even flexed her muscles, as if two days of training were enough to build them up. “Wow,” Jory said as he felt them. “Nice!” Piper grinned proudly, happy with his reaction. Then she proceeded to tell him that she wanted to be a warrior when she got older. He ruffled her hair and said that she’d make a great one.
