“Bread delivery. Routine. Safe. Predictable. That’s how it gets you.” Her fingers traced the edge of the diary. “And then boom, desire slips in through something as small as eye contact and a hand brush. No contracts. No dramatic rescues. No blindfolds.” She tilted her head slightly. “Just tension. Slow, building, inevitable tension.” A pause. “And honestly? That makes it more believable than most.” Chloe’s expression softened just a little. “Because this is how a lot of real stories start. Not with fireworks… but with repetition. Seeing the same person over and over until curiosity turns into anticipation… and anticipation turns into hunger.”

Each of my swings was met with a swift counter; every advance was met with a retreat. She was fast, but the drugs coursing through my system made me faster. With every step and move she made, I matched and exceeded her speed. Then, I spotted an opening. Without hesitation, I took it and struck her with the back of my knife. The adrenaline from the drugs surged through me, heightening every sensation. She flew backward, crashing into the wall, blood spilling from her mouth. As she wiped the blood from her lips, she looked at me with a steely gaze.

Even the air was torn apart into large pieces, and it was as if a storm had passed through the scene. Crackle and rattle! Clink clank! Huge burst of sparks appeared as if it were a meteor shower. The mysterious man's speed was shockingly fast. Not only was he attacking the remaining four people, but he managed to force them a few steps backward. Among them, Heidi and Nana were weaker. After they were pushed back, their faces were pale, and their breathing became rapid. It was apparent that the short stint just now had used up an unbelievable amount of energy.

THIRD PERSON POV The ride back was faster than it should have been. The engine under Dante’s hands roared like it was trying to match the violence still burning through him while the road blurred beneath the tires and the night air cut sharp against his skin. He didn’t slow and he didn’t think. He let the motion carry him forward because stopping meant replaying the moment over and over again. That was already happening whether he wanted it not not. She walked past him without hesitation and she didn’t look back. That part stayed.

He turned briefly, his hand resting on the steering wheel before he glanced at me once more. Silence hung in the air, heavy and suffocating, as Antonio's hand moved to the ignition. The car's engine roared to life without warning, the suddenness of the noise making me flinch. In an instant, he accelerated, the car surging forward with astonishing speed, leaving the penthouse parking lot in a blur. The acceleration was relentless, as though he was competing in a race against time itself. Yet, his lips remained sealed, refusing to share further words with me.

I said with uncertainty because it seemed like she anticipated me saying that and replied with, “You may have mapped out a travel plan, but I have a plan of my own that I have been working on. You have a year left, we should go to the extreme while you still can.” I had a bad feeling about where this was heading, so my next question was asked in a very cautious voice, “What is your plan?”. “It’s pretty simple really, all we need to do is rob a bank, are you in?”, she asked cheerfully. I thought about this for a hot second, I feel like I saw it coming in a way, then replied with, “hell yeah I’m in!” Is it the right way? No. Is it the best way given the circumstances? Absolutely!

Adam let out a slow whistle, dragging his hand down his face. “Nah… this book is wild,” he said under his breath. He stayed still for a moment, staring at the page like it might say more if he looked long enough. Then he shook his head, almost laughing, but not fully. “A train?” he muttered. “Out of all places…” He pushed off the counter and started pacing again, the book hanging loosely in his hand. This one didn’t feel like control. Didn’t feel like planning either. It was fast. Reckless. Like two people just… stepped into something with zero hesitation.

I moved fast. Pushing through the confusion. Blending. Changing direction twice in seconds. Left. Then right. Then forward. No pattern. No consistency. Just movement. Alive. Uncontrolled. “Exit now,” she said. “I’m going.” I stepped off the bus into the chaos outside. Didn’t stop. Didn’t look back. Just moved. Fast. Sharp. Unpredictable. The street swallowed me. Noise. Lights. People. Everything moving. Everything messy. Perfect. I turned a corner.

Lizzy jerks back, the knife pausing mid-air. Footsteps. Running. Fast. Something crashes through the trees, moving with desperate speed. My heart races. Knox? Is that him?
