The baby pointed toward the seven rulers. “Then forgive them.” Lucian frowned. “They tried to kill us.” The baby nodded. “They are afraid.” Lucian looked at the rulers. For the first time, he saw beneath their anger. They were broken. Abandoned. Forgotten. Just like he and Amara had once been. Lucian slowly lowered his hand. “I forgive you.” Amara followed. “I forgive you too.” The seven rulers began crying. Their crowns shattered. Their bodies turned into light.
