"How does it feel to you now?" I hesitated, trying to find words for something so intrinsically felt rather than consciously understood. "It's... muted. Like a limb that's fallen asleep—you know it's there, but the sensation is wrong, painful in a dull, persistent way." I pressed a hand to my chest. "Before Liam's coma, I could feel him here, a warm presence even when we were apart. Now it's cold, hollow."

I ran, ran from the scene that had seared itself into my memory, ran from the truth that threatened to consume me. I found myself in a secluded part of the forest, tears streaming down my cheeks. Shattered. I felt empty. I felt pain. I felt rage. And beneath it all, I felt the crushing sadness that had been buried deep in my heart, rising now like a tide I couldn’t fight anymore.

Those men who will not think twice before hurting me, if they lay their hands on me. As I make my way through the thorns, my feet bleed as they pierce into my bare feet, and the long run has added more pain to my feet, as if the earth's anger towards me wasn't enough, the sky decided to add to my pain, the sky was crying, it's raining heavily, drenching me.

It felt as if the ground beneath her had given way, leaving her standing on unsteady ground. Feeling hurt and betrayed, Hailee couldn't find the strength to confront them.
