“ So listen to me carefully and follow every word that I say to him. Earth gave a nod and just waited for him to give the instructions. When Lark finished, his eyes became so round and he looked like his blood all came to his cheeks as he blushed upon learning the ways. “Are you for real?” he asked to confirm “You don’t believe me? Then forget it, this will only give him a bad impression of you for living him out there alone. Can you believe a friend you are close to would ever leave you for who knows how long? And do you think that just the two of us would be enough to look for the book you are looking for? Every day this room arranges its book on its own and I learned that the pieces of in

In the quiet dawn of a new day, the sun's gentle rays filter through the curtains, casting a soft glow over the room where 3-year-old Theo sleeps peacefully. Nanny Hazel stirs from her slumber, her senses attuned to the subtle shifts in the morning air. As she approaches Theo's bedside, a wave of concern washes over her as she notices the warmth radiating from his small body. With a tender touch, Hazel places her hand on Theo's forehead, her heart sinking as she confirms the presence of a fever. In that moment, her instincts as a caregiver kick in, propelling her into action to address Theo's sudden illness with care and urgency.

"Silly girl, why are you asking me this while holding a calendar? You know how to read, don't you?" "Yes, but this calendar is old and wrong," I insisted. "Sweetheart, it is a new calendar with the right date. Are you feeling okay? Well, you did have a fever." Sue looked at me with her eyes full of concern. "I...had a fever?" I stammered. "Yes, you have had a fever for three days. It must've messed with your brain because you are acting crazy," Sue clucked her tongue. What the hell was going on here?

Alex nodded even though he couldn’t see her. “Watch for syncope, palpitations, or unusual lethargy,” he continued. “If the fever spikes or anything cardiac appears, go straight to the ER.” “Okay.” “But Alex,” he added gently, “most medicated children handle fevers without incident. You know the protocol.” Alex did know. That didn’t make it less terrifying. Catherine lay on the couch wrapped in a blanket with Ellie the stuffed elephant. Her cheeks were flushed. Cartoons played softly on the television.

She turned back to the snow. “Then you’d better pray your body holds.” “I don’t pray,” I muttered. But gods, maybe I should’ve. --- Fever Dreams Sometime in the dead hours, Isabella stirred. Not gently, not soft—jerked like her body had been yanked by unseen hands. She thrashed weakly, her fever driving her into half-dreams, words spilling broken from her lips. “No—don’t—please—” Her voice cracked, guttural, dragging knives across my chest.

Ember's POV. Responding to the sudden call, I hoped to hear Loak’s voice tenderly soothing my pain, but instead, Doctor Caleb’s voice echoed with a sense of urgency. “Hurry up, Ember… Loak's Feral Fever is back, and this time, it's looking scarier.” His words instantly struck a chord in me, my eyes bulging with shock and fear. If there was anything I was expecting, it definitely wasn’t that my son would have another attack.

They were priceless. Caitlin turned page after page, fingering the goldleaf, the beautiful illustrations, and reading closely the elaborate penmanship. It was in Latin, but Caitlin understood it. The book was about lost places. Caitlin read and read, and unlike the other books, it was riveting. She became intrigued. Her heart started beating faster, as she finally began to feel like she was onto something.

She smiled at the little girl before getting on the other side of the bed and sitting down. “Nevaeh, baby!” She affectionately called her while touching her face and checking her temperature. Even though her whole face looked red, especially her nose, the fever had cooled down, making Anthea sigh out of relief. “Her fever is gone.” Anthea gently proclaimed while smiling at Nevaeh, who was still watching her silently. There was something in Nevaeh’s gaze when she looked at Anthea. It was filled with some weird emotion that was instantly pulling Anthea towards her. She wanted to take her into her arms.

BREAKFAST IN THE ALPHA’S BED My name is Lira, a lowly maid in the Ironclaw pack, barely out of my first shift. I had dreamed of this moment….serving breakfast to the Alpha himself in his private chamber. It was an honor, a thrill that made my pulse race as I balanced the silver tray laden with fresh venison strips, warm bread slathered in honey, and a steaming pot of herbal tea. The scent of the food mingled with the earthy aroma of the den's stone walls, but nothing compared to the intoxicating pull of the Alpha's territory that drew me closer with every step.

Ugh! I grabbed my blanket from the bed. I would just use the overly thick duvet to sleep. I tip toed to Cameron's room again and was about to cover him with the duvet when I noticed.. that his forehead was sweaty despite the room's cold condition. I guess he didn't need a blanket after all. I sighed and touched Cameron's burning and sweaty forehead. It looked as though he was having a fever. I removed the book Cameron was holding in his hand and giggled after seeing the title ‘A collection of sad love poems’. Where did he even get that?
