I step inside and am immediately met with the scent of paper, dust, and ink, a scent that always calms me, even when my mind is anything but quiet.
The hushed atmosphere presses in around me, soft footsteps on wood floors and the occasional rustle of a page. I head straight for the magical folklore and supernatural history section. The tall shelves stretch around me like a maze, and I run my fingers lightly along the spines, scanning titles with narrowed eyes.
I lose track of how long I spend pulling books off shelves and thumbing through pages, some handwritten, others printed with faded ink. Most mention nothing, and the few that do contain little more than whispers and speculation. I feel
