The stadium was packed.
Goldcliff’s field stretched wide and imposing beneath us, their emblem, an aggressive golden wolf with sharp, bared fangs, plastered across banners, flags, and even painted on the ground itself. Their side of the stands was overwhelming, a sea of gold, roaring with energy that felt almost suffocating.
Even before we had stepped off the bus, I had felt the hostility.
As soon as we pulled into the parking lot, a group of Goldcliff students had rushed toward the bus, spraying water against the windows, laughing and shouting until security chased them off.
