I mutter as I throw my leg over the windowsill. I hold on tight as I swing my other leg out, then find my footing between the holes in the trellis. Slowly, I start to move down, searching for spaces to hold onto. Suddenly, I hear the wood snap. I suck in a breath, then the trellis pulls away from the house, making me shriek. No! I climb down further, but the wood must be worn with age, and it gives way. Another shriek escapes me as I fall. I hit the ground so hard my teeth clatter, and a sharp pain flares through my right hand and wrist.

Deliberately pitching her into the dark abyss below. Her body pitched forward sharply. Her heel missed the edge of the next step. Her knee slammed into concrete first. Pain detonated upward through her leg. Her shoulder struck next, twisting her sideways mid-fall. Her head hit the sharp corner of a stair with a sickening crack that echoed through the stairwell. Momentum carried her. She tumbled. Silk tangled around her legs as she rolled helplessly down the flight. Her fingers clawed at the railing, nails scraping metal before slipping free.

The stool shattered everywhere into pieces. Thump! The shattered pieces flew so fast that the fighters could not dodge in time. They were either cut or incapacitated on the spot. Some of the pieces even plunged into their neck and face, killing them on the spot. Five out of eight fighters collapsed on the floor instantly. The other three were petrified and the fear of death instantly enveloped them. They instinctively took a step back to avoid the danger. Gillian was in terrible shape as well. When the stool shattered and burst into pieces, he felt an unimaginably powerful force coming down from the blade of his broadsword and entering his body.

All of a sudden, both Rain and Falco lost all the strength in their legs and fell on the ground like two lifeless mannequins. Colt saw this and felt his lifespan dwindling. The angel definitely did something that made them limp.

My heel caught on something. I fell. I tumbled down the stairs. My body hit each step, my head hit something hard. Everything went black.

He asked, his voice deepening. “Please, don't do this” I begged quietly, my voice failing. His glare hardened. “You have 5 seconds,” he threatened. My heart was pounding as the tears threatened to spill. “5” he counted. The tears had already started falling. “4” he continued. I shakily started pulling up my shirt and tossed it onto the bed when I was done. My hands went up to cover my bra. “3” his glare remained the same. Now full-on crying, I took off my jeans and tossed them onto the bed.

Edward followed, and—of course—Daniel too. I knew I should stay in my room. But something in me wouldn’t let them disappear out of sight. I crept halfway down the stairs, keeping close to the wall. My hand brushed the smooth wood of the banister, my heart hammering. From somewhere in the east wing, a door slammed. Then the muffled sound of glass breaking. Falco’s voice carried back, urgent. “They’re in the study!” Edward’s voice was sharper now. “Block the back exit!”
