I picked my daughter up in my arms and brushed her hair out of her beautiful face. “Yokai, I swear, I will find Damian Morningstar! If he is the one that did this, I will send him to the Netherrealm where he will burn and suffocate!” I vowed. I then feel a powerful presence behind me, well four of them. I turned to the Grandmasters of the Elements that I trained many years ago. They are unwelcome in my presence though since they would have betrayed me for my brother’s leadership! Fujin, the Master of Air. Bi Han, the Master of Ice and Water. Geras, the Master of Earth. And finally, Hanzo Hishachi, Master of Fire.

Our senses awaken from the age of fourteen with enhanced hearing, eyesight, smell, healing and strength. Up until the age of seventeen we are all equal and depending on the beast you get your rank within the lair will determine your future. Sires usually get an indigo beast and rarely a violet one. A violet beast is the strongest one and you are feared and revered when you are blessed with one. Blue beasts are usually a sign that you will be a good second commander or just second in command of the liar, like the co-captain. Green beasts are specialized, they become doctors, trackers, investigators and so forth.

Caspian reached the top of the wall in six seconds. His massive, furred hand caught the edge of the parapet... crushing the stone to dust under his grip. He vaulted over the railing, landing in the center of the mercenary squad like a falling star. The slaughter was instant and total. I watched from the driveway as the Beast tore through the mercenaries. He didn't use a blade... he used his hands, he used his teeth... he used the raw, animal strength of a fated mate who had seen his woman bleed. Bodies were thrown from the wall like sacks of grain... falling into the courtyard with sickening thuds.

So, I was asked to come here, replacing his business with meeting master Alberto Mose."

K 18/9/2010 I feel alone. Papa is gone just like Milly and Mama was never there to begin with. I feel like everyone I care for is snatched away from me. Are you punishing me? I ask the luna every night just before the beast takes over. I don't know how long I can handle this. I don't think I am strong enough. I am always angry, uncle Gregory said I have gone mad. I think he is right. It's always there, breathing down my neck.. the dark traces of my personality wrapping its arms around me, telling me to let go. I can see the beast everytime I look into a mirror. Its silver eyes, my eyes, flash back at me as if to remind me who's in control. I can't control the beast anymore.

Alaric, towering above everyone else at the foot of the staircase, stared at me with an expression I couldn’t decipher. The silence that followed my words felt eternal. Then came his voice, deep and sharp as steel. “Repeat that.” I took a shaky breath, feeling the eyes of everyone present in the room. My legs trembled, but I straightened my shoulders, meeting his icy blue gaze. “I volunteer… to be your mate,” I said again, my voice steady this time. The room erupted. Some people gasped; others burst into laughter. “She’s committing suicide!” “A poor little omega? The king will tear her apart!”
