I sat in between Finns legs and leaned back against him. "You are so beautiful, Lay. How did I get so lucky?" Finn whispered to me and I smiled.

I was about to leave and go home but was stopped. “Hey, Cady, great to see you. I haven't seen you in a while!” A voice called out. Finn, one of the younger warriors, always had a friendly smile. “Hey, Finn.” I managed to smile and waved back at him. “Do you want to join us? We could use an extra pair of hands for the sparring session today if you think you can handle it, of course,” he winked at me. I hesitated, the lump in my throat making it hard to respond. “Sure, I’m in,” I replied, trying to sound enthusiastic, but all I could think about was Alpha Zane and how he would be all over Avery instead of me.

He trailed off, but everyone understood what he meant. Finn lay on the ground, coughing hard a few times, and suddenly laughed. Sydney and the others felt baffled when they heard his laughter. Hunter frowned and asked, "What are you laughing at?" Finn picked up his glasses from the ground. One side of it snapped, but he still put it on and stood up, touching his swollen left cheek.
