But I keep within me that cold lucidity: fire can warm, but it can also destroy. And it's that burn, the pain and passion mingled, that I accept, still and always.

Programmed response lag—triggered by the comms blackout. Dark red Wildfire erupted from the greatsword, flaring for less than three heartbeats. The flame's color began to shift. Dark red to ice blue. Ice blue to ashen white. Each shift a precise counter-modulation of his scent frequency. By the third second, the Wildfire broke completely free of his control, surging back along the blade toward his arm. The old callus on his sword-hand hissed faintly under the ice-blue flames. High-temperature Wildfire reversed into low-temperature ice flame. His hand absorbed both burn and freeze simultaneously—two opposing physical forces tearing at the same flesh.

KEITH'S POINT OF VIEW I appeared back to my room. I sighed as I thought about what had happened today. I thought about her. That young girl. I sighed again and rubbed my temples. 'Don't think too much Dante, else you'll get a headache, and you know what happens when you get a headache, right?' Circe said. Circe is the name of my spirit animal which was a wolf. And yes, I know what will happen when I get a headache. She will feel it also. The lady. I sighed. I remembered Derek. He only wants to get revenge on me with her. I laughed at this thought. Nueva counteracted with freezing chrystals, and the two elements met in a blinding blast, lighting up the dark woodland as the ice clashed with fire. The more Marigold pushed with her firestorm; the more Nueva called on the ice. As a result, frost started covering the ground and spreading toward the feral wolfs. Nueva could hear their nervous whimpers and snarls as the icy rime closed in.

The next moment, the ice pillars that had just formed around them suddenly began to melt rapidly, unable to withstand the high temperature brought by the Fire Dragon Blaze.

Icy was a beautiful snow leopard shifter that I was lucky enough to find. The Queen helped me locate her and for that I will be forever in her debt.

Reggie said looking apologetic. Fred nodded. His eyes getting teary. "I just want my best friend back," he said, his voice cracking. "I'm sorry," Reggie said. They hugged each other. Alice and Nora watched the scene from a distance. "This is so cute," Alice said. "Like a little reunion huh," Nora said. They both giggled. A car sped towards Reggie and Fred. They didn't notice it as they were still in each other's arms. "No!!!" Alice and Nora screamed at the same time as the car ran over them.
