The drinks are catching up with me, but I don’t want to ruin the moment by wandering off to find a public bathroom. Tipsy and daring, I ask Chris for help. “Hey, Chris,” I say, my voice a little unsteady. “Do you think you could show me where the restroom is?” His eyes widen slightly in surprise but quickly soften into a charming smile. “Sure thing, beautiful. Follow me.” He takes my hand, his touch sending a tingle up my arm, and leads me into the fire station. With a firm grip on my hand he guides me through the fire station. My heart races as I follow him.

Take it! My body trembled, the fire within clawing for release. I felt it rising, wild and uncontrollable. The floor shook beneath my feet, cracks splitting the stone. Soldiers stepped back in fear, some murmuring prayers, others cursing my name. Kaïden shoved Thorne away, but he was slower now, his strength fading. Thorne noticed that weakness. He raised his remaining blade, poised to deliver the fatal blow. Something inside me snapped. I charged forward, flames bursting from my palms in a brilliant arc. The heat seared the air, striking the ground between them like an act of divine judgment. Both men froze, forced apart by the roaring flames.

His burned hand stretched out, trembling with rage and desperation. The fire roared in defiance. It surged upward, a column of blood-red light, blasting the air around him. Sparks struck his skin, blistering his arm. He screamed, stumbling back, his body nearly consumed. The pack recoiled. Some shouted in horror, others in awe. The scent of burnt flesh and blood filled the chamber. But through the chaos, the fire did not relent. It leaned farther, stretching, bending—until its searing glow licked dangerously close to me.

He is saying something to her, but she does not hear nor does she has the intention of removing the earphone “I’m saying that the chief wants to see you now” he yells frustratingly at her, forcefully removing her earphones. “You should have just said it gently, no need in using force” she hisses. “And you would have heard with how much you were bobbing your head to that music of yours, not that you have a great taste at music at that” he scoffs, handing her the files he was told to give her. “Just like how your name is not of a great taste too, and don’t fucking insult my taste in music, it is better than your taste in anything” she tells her, rolling her eyes at him.

As he lowered himself downwards, I took a deep breath. Then, all of a sudden, I felt white hot pain. It was so intense I was unaware of anything else in the world apart from the torturous burning. I couldn’t feel Thale’s body anymore. I couldn’t see anymore. I wanted to scream, but I was so utterly consumed by agony I forgot how. I wondered if I had died. I had no other explanation. My fears were confirmed as I felt my conscious slipping away. I ran towards it. I welcomed the nothingness. Nothingness meant no more pain.
