Bryson POV, When the fire started I know that I had been cheated. The eyes that stared into me gem afar were the ones of my friend, the one person that I trust should I ever need a shoulder to turn to rely on. I square around, they had kept me weak under the constant fire that kept blazing around me. I can do nothing but take the harsh sensation I feel in my skin. Any idiot would not dare it but an attempt would suffice and I'm no idiot to shift at such length to leap through the high flame. Before I can do that or anything they had that step calculated and so far it was a no-go.

“You can’t protect her from destiny.” “I don’t need to,” I said. “She’ll decide her own.” My claws tore through his chest. The light in his eyes died instantly. I stumbled back, gasping. The fire flickered and died with him. Cara was still chained. I broke the links easily and caught her as she fell forward. Her body trembled, but her eyes met mine with the same fierce spark I’d fallen for. “I told you not to follow me,” she whispered. “And I told you I wouldn’t listen,” I said.

I tried to run toward the heat, toward the screaming orange light, but a pair of strong arms caught me around the waist.
