​“It’ll tear you apart.” ​“Maybe.” She stepped out from behind him, looking up at the approaching nightmare. “But look at it. It’s afraid.” ​Kael darted a frantic look between her and the monster. “What?” ​She could feel it now—buried far beneath the crushing weight of its ancient terror and insatiable hunger, the First Hunger was terrified of whatever essence was waking up inside her blood. She took another deliberate step forward, her voice ringing out in the cavern. “Why are you scared of me?”

The room was dark, but she could make out a figure in the corner of the room walking toward her. It was the hooded man and she thought she could see him smiling menacingly down at her as he walked closer and closer. Her first instinct was of course to move, run away, defend herself, understand what the heck was going on, but her limbs and every other part of her remained unmoving and useless by her side. She tried to scream but couldn't, only watching in horror as he came slowly but steadily.

It shattered on the floor, splashing cold tea across her boots, but she didn't feel the wetness. The pain grew. It wasn't just a headache anymore; it was a vision. In her mind’s eye, she saw a place she had only heard about in scary stories. Deep under the mountains, in a tomb made of silver-veined rock, a heavy seal was cracking. A hand, grey and clawed, pushed through the stone. Something is coming. The thought wasn't her own. It was a dark, oily whisper that coated her mind. The First-Born—the father of all monsters was waking up from a five-hundred-year sleep. And he was hungry.

His orbs searches for that particular lady. On the far side of the battle scene, a pile of lifeless bloody body stole his attention. His heart pounded nervously; curious to confirm her identity, Hodor prances on top of the defeated ones. He had taken several steps before a nervous and frightened chuckle comes out of him. “Th-That c-can’t be!” He stammered. His eyes are bulging out of his sockets. His steps are frantic, backwards, retracing his footsteps. Hodor had seen the face of the lady that gives him horror—and the head she is holding is his.

Each one radiated a hunger so ancient it made my magic recoil, slamming against the chains that bound me like a trapped storm. Nytherion wasn’t a myth. It was a wound. And I had torn it open. The first horror stepped fully into the world, its head twisting unnaturally, a maw opening across its chest instead of its face. The sound it made was laughter—but not the human kind. The laughter of something that had watched universes die and thought it was beautiful. Kael moved. Gods save us all, Kael moved like war incarnate.

Long, swirling horns coiled around its head like petrified fire. Mohammed and Susan shuddered, staring at this **incarnate hell**, as the creature's colossal shadow stretched across the walls, threatening to engulf them entirely. They took a step back, but the voice of the sheikh, the leader, cut through their fear: **Sun of the Ages:** Do not hesitate... Come closer.

That first kill will always stay with me. The wolf standing across from me snaps his teeth at me, challenging me to make the first move. I wait. I want him to be anxious and make a mistake. And he finally does. He hesitates briefly. He goes to lunge, but hesitates for just a moment, remembering what I did to his friends just moments before. Then he commits to lunge at me, but I already anticipate the maneuver. I shoot up onto my hind legs and tower over his wolf. My front claws are in the air, lining up with his wolf’s exposed abdomen as he attempts to land on me. I glanced out of the window every once in a while, watching the buildings going by and people going about their business, completely unaware of the creatures that threatened their very existence. We headed out of the city and drove deep into the Rocky Mountains until we were at the gates of the werewolf compound. The guards quickly opened the gate to let us in and we drove for another half an hour down the road, passing houses and businesses until we got to the pack house. Who did such a horrible thing! She pinched herself as she stood up, telling her mind that what she was seeing wasn’t real. However, the scene did nit fade nor did it disappear but stayed there, showing the true horror in front of her. Hellion painstakingly stood up, her legs shaking so much that she almost fell again.
