The paper crackled beneath my fingers, revealing a sleek box of chocolates, glossy and dark, like they belonged in a gourmet shop window.
Dennis watched me closely. “Too on the nose?”
“I told you guys we should’ve gotten roses,” Noah said.
“She hates it,” Wesley muttered like he already regretted everything.
My eyes lifted to his, and I gave a quiet laugh.
“You really do give gifts to everyone, don’t you?” I said. “That’s your thing.”
Wesley gave a crooked smile. “What, is it that obvious?”
“Gifts must be your love language,” I murmured. “Chocolate’s mine.”
