A rotten egg burst against her sweater, yellow slime dripping down her arm.
The gasps were wild. The laughter wilder. Wendy laughter into the microphone with the others. Another egg followed, exploding against her hair. Dozens followed.
“Stop,” Freya cried, hands flying up as the assault continued. Eggs shattered against her back, her jeans, her shoes. The stench clung to her skin, seeped into her hair, made her gag.
“Oops,” Wendy said mockingly. “Guess we slipped.”
Freya stumbled, slipping on the slick ground, her knees hitting the pavement. The crowd around them grew, phones lifted, recording.
