His bloodshot eyes opened slowly, meeting hers with a mixture of fear and disbelief. For a moment, the basement seemed to hold its breath. Then Amira pulled the trigger one final time.
The bullet tore through his skull, splattering blood and brain matter across the room. His head slumped forward, lifeless, and the room fell silent except for the sound of Amira’s ragged breathing.
