He knew you were allergic to chrysanthemums. He didn’t tell me—just let me bring flowers that would make you sneeze.”

Mila cried again and the flower halted again. Mila plucked it and waited for it either shrivel up or blossom again. But nothing happened. Neither did the flower shrivel nor did it blossom again. And she knew it magic at its core. The bloom would blossom only when the flower in her hand would die, and it won’t die unless the flower in her hand was used.

Rebecca The rest of the afternoon was filled with client calls and coaching some of the new staff on various complex accounting principles. By the end of the day Rebecca was beat and could think of nothing better than a hot bath. She stood, turning and walking to the file cabinet at the back of her office where the roses sat. Is that acceptable?” “I guess.” Her eyes went back to book, her foot slid through the water, gently rubbing up and down the calf of her other leg; the sight caused me to gulp. “Are you coming out of there?” “What time is it?”

I hesitate. She tried to steal from me. Hurt me. But the flower… it’s pulsing too fast. It looks like it’s feeding on her fear. I make a choice. I leap forward and slash the vines with my knife. They hiss and flinch, but they don’t let go. “Give it to me,” I say. “The flower. It’s reacting to you.” She doesn’t want to. I see it in her eyes. But she’s panicking now. She shoves the flower into my hands, and the vines instantly retract—like they were never there.

Brimming with excitement, she hurried over and pressed the doorbell. Time seemed to stretch on as she waited, testing her patience. The woman stops walking, and I see a very different flower, one I don't recognize, its petals have a purple hue, they look like flames enveloping the center. The woman tries to touch the flower, but I see a blackened barrier forming and before the woman could touch the flower, it was thrown away. At the same moment, I felt my hand burn and a shock run through my arm, I shuddered and the taste of blood invaded my lips. I saw the woman's body fall among the flowers and finally, I was able to move.
