Ryan’s words had pierced through me like a thousand daggers, each one sharper with a sarcastic smile.
“You can’t keep her in your gilded cage forever, Aiden,” Ryan had said, his smug grin grating on my nerves. “She’s not some trophy to be won. You let her go for even a second, and she’ll run to me. Face it—you’ll never be the man she wants.”
I clenched my fists under the table, the urge to wrap my hands around his throat barely contained. But I didn’t. I had to be smarter than that. Killing him in a public bar would solve nothing, and besides, I wanted to break him in a way he would never forget.
