“This isn’t following the path.” Her gaze lifted, scanning the street ahead, then back to where she had come from. The alignment she had been tracking was still there—she could feel it—but it was no longer anchored to the space in a way she could trust. It wasn’t the path that was shifting. It was where the path allowed her to stand. Selara stepped forward again. The connection dropped out. She didn’t step back this time. Instead, she turned, angling slightly to the side instead of retracing her movement.

That means…” He hesitated, then thought of a road. And just like that, one appeared. A narrow dirt path curved ahead through the meadow, dust rising gently where it hadn’t existed seconds before. Adrian exhaled shakily. “Okay. Definitely not a dream.” He followed the path. Each step made the world hum quietly, a sound that came not from outside but inside his head — like an echo of his own thoughts bouncing back. It was unnerving, almost like walking through the corridors of his own mind.

The path will only reveal itself to those who are worthy. Trust in the bond you have forged, for it will guide you through the trials ahead.” As they began to follow Zephyr, the air around them shimmered, and a narrow trail emerged, winding down the mountain. They moved quickly, the weight of urgency pressing upon them as they descended into the valley below.
