she answered. “I do. He’s never given me a reason not to. Quite the opposite, in fact. Look, honey, I’m not going to tell you that all mates are perfect, because trust me, I know firsthand that they’re not. Your uncle is not my first mate. He’s what we call my second chance mate. Sometimes, when you have the Goddess’s favor, if your first mate rejects you, passes away, or treats you badly, she will grant you another mate. My first mate was not a good man or mate. He hurt me so deeply that when I found your uncle, I was afraid to love him. I was terrified that he would be just like my first mate, but he’s not. My first mate was a cheater. He manipulated me. He happily took every part of me th

“That's what I want. You reject her as your mate, sever the mate bond between the both of you, and I will let her go. Cross my heart.” “You don't have a heart, brother,” I said calmly. He laughed. “You are so right. I don't.” His expression immediately darkened. “Reject her, and I can have her.” I felt my heart skip a painful beat. “What do you mean, you can have her?” He leaned forward in his chair. “Elara is a beautiful soul, and I want her. I think I'm falling in love with her,” he said with a cocky smile. I clenched my fists at my sides so hard I almost drew blood.

CHAPTER 1 “Do you, Alpha Damos take Sailyn to be your lawful mate, to stand by her through all that life may bring?”, the officiant's voice echoed The chapel was a blur of white flowers, glittering lights, and murmurs of excitement, but all I could see was him. My Alpha. My mate. The one I was meant to be bound to. And yet… he couldn’t feel me. He couldn’t see the bond pulsing between us like a heartbeat.

Her voice was a symphony of pure enchantment, a melodic whisper that could charm the gods themselves. “Mate? What's that?” I asked again, still walking closer to her. She never left where she was, and I never got closer to her. “Mate is referred to as a predestined, supernatural bond between two individuals. They are soulmates. And mate bond is a fated union, chosen by me to identify who your mate is. It's marked by a strong, irresistible attraction between the two mates.” Her tone was soothing, calming, and uplifting all at once, like a gentle summer breeze.

I bet his lips are warm and soft, a contrast to his hard body. My cousin is so lucky, I sigh. I lean against the kitchen island that is crowded with different drinks, alcohol and sodas. I can see them from where I stand, and I watch as Stephanie reaches back to wrap her hand into Luca's hair. "Stop being a fucking weirdo!" Lilith snaps at me, "You seriously need to get over him. You should get laid tonight." I snort, finding the thought ridiculous. There was no one here that interested me, no one but Luca.

her mother cautions softly, hoping that the blonde would be sensible enough not to provoke her father. Alpha Conor glowers at his daughter. If looks could kill, the blonde would be bleeding from several cuts. “You speak of sin. What about you? Indulging in a perverted relationship with the one you called a sibling. How many people have you seen fucking their siblings?” Alpha Conor snarls. And you dared to do this under my roof! “It is not perverted!” Adira screams. “She is my mate!” “No, she is not!” Alpha Conor retorts. “Jacob is your mate.”

“You really don’t know, do you?” “Know what?” My voice cracked with dread. He stepped closer, eyes burning into mine, and whispered the truth that shattered me. “A saint is forbidden from having a mate.”

Once everyone made it across, the elder turned to me. “You must go south now,” he said. “Away from Ronan’s territory. Away from old enemies.” “And Jake,” I whispered. The elder’s gaze softened. “The Moon will not let you drift from your mate forever. Hiding will only delay the inevitable.” That word again. Mate. My chest tightened painfully. Ivan looked away. We traveled for two days without stopping. My energy came back in broken fragments. The silver light inside me no longer roared. It simmered. Watching. Waiting.

Aaron looked up. “A forbidden bond,” Aaron said quietly. “Your father had a fated mate. Male. From a rival pack.” He held Ray’s gaze. “The council dissolved his pack and stripped his Alpha status and erased the record.” He paused. “He spent ten years rebuilding from nothing. Built Shadowmoon from the ground up. Never spoke about what came before.” Ray said nothing. I said nothing. “The mate,” Ray said finally. “What happened to him.” “He survived,” Aaron said. “Changed his name. Moved territories. Started over.” He paused. “He’s been operating a small pack on the southeast border of Shadowmoon territory for three years.”
