When she was done, she gave a small curtsy and flipped the switches before slipping out of the room, closing the door softly behind her.
I sank onto the bed, feeling the plush sheets rise around me, warm and comforting. The scent of lavender drifted through the air. For the first time that night, I exhaled.
But the calm didn’t last long.
The door creaked open again.
Freddy stepped inside.
He was dressed down now in a simple white lounge shirt and dark pyjama pants. His hair was damp and tousled, falling slightly over his forehead.
He looked softer. And I could see his face, thanks to the soft rays of the moon coming in from the window.
