The Rule
With a soft sigh, he closed the book and rose from the couch, his silk garments rustling softly against the fabric.
He sank to his knees, his voice barely above a whisper as he prayed, "O Lord my God, I wait with bated breath for your counsel. Whatever your will may be, I will reverently submit to it. I place the lives of my soldiers, as well as my own, in your hands. Guard us with the tender care you reserve for the pupil of your eye. I seek your mercy, my God, and your guidance in these uncertain times."
The words poured from his heart, a heartfelt plea for wisdom and protection in the face of uncertainty.
