MARISSA “Have a good weekend, Sean.” I waved at the burly security guard at the front entrance. A friendly giant with dark red hair, he had eyes the color of spring grass. I wouldn’t have wanted to cross him by trying to get into a building he guarded for any nefarious purposes, but he was nice enough to me. I was finally starting up something of a friendship with a couple of people who worked in the same office building I did. Sean was one of those people. It made me feel just a little bit more like I belonged, like I could fit in.

All three ladies nodded as Sam smiled, “Sounds great.” We finished eating while we all talked and laughed as each quad member told stories of when we were all growing up. I was struck with how well we all got along. It was like we were all meant to live around each other. It was nice seeing my dad laugh and cut-up after all the seriousness over the past couple weeks. I asked, “So do each of you have magic too?” Quinn nodded, “We do. I have practiced mine more than these two. Of course, Sebastian is the best of all of us.” I just shook my head, “That’s so funny. Micah is the one out of the boys that has practiced his more than the other two, but I’m the one who was using mine the most.”

I wish I could slip out of here but the annoying pixie by the door is blocking me in. "Why can't we just be friends again?" Izzy asks sadly and Briar lets out a heavy sigh. "We were never friends, Izzy. That wasn't what real friendship is." She says firmly and my heart soars when she looks over at me, warmth in her eyes. Pride fills my body and I naturally gravitate towards her. I stand behind her, soaking up her closeness and letting her know I'm here if she needs me. Izzy watches our interaction before she turns on her heel and leaves us alone.
