I pulled out my notebook and decided to entertain myself by writing down random stuff. At first, I just doodled. Little hearts, stars, random squiggles. But then I had this idea to make a list, a bucket list, sort of. 100 Things to Do Before the End of the Year. Why not? You don’t want to be a spammer, sending the same random messages out to hundreds of people, but it’s hard to find twenty different ways of saying what a great party you ran last night, or how much fun the next one will be. We scan the headlines and comment about the news as it relates to gay men or Miami Beach. We constantly update our profile songs, critique reality show contestants, and post poll results. It’s amazing we have time to run a business and get laid occasionally.

I would have to find a way to distract myself so I didn’t spiral. I walked back into the living room to grab my phone from the table. I unlocked it and opened my notepad app. I put a title at the top: “Things to do during my suspension.” I watched the cursor blink, patiently waiting for me to start the list.
