It’s a good thing I know someone. “The thickness of the book is bad isn’t it? I fell asleep while reading. “I looked at that book. It’s not too thick, just right. “Yeah.” That’s all I answered because they might say I’m arrogant. Larissa managed to change the atmosphere with her silly jokes. He always joins me. So I’m just laughing too.

It was the best kind of job for me, I loved it and I got paid weekly, enough to eat, after my first paycheck, I had spent a full week starving, I tried to ask for my money beforehand but my boss who’s the meanest person ever, said no. How could such a cold hearted person be responsible for one of the best places in the world! There was no sleeping with a storm outside, I was up most of the night, I was up early and ready to go to work, I was slipping but pushed it down as I got out of her car and quickly walked over to the bookstore. I walked over to the children's books area, I was thankful no one was around as I sat down in a beanbag after grabbing a few books to read.

"Fuck I want to see this. You wearing pajamas." "I'm glad you are finding it funny." "I think it is going to be fucking hilarious." "Wait, you might just think it is hot." "There is no way that pajamas are hot." "We'll see about that." I am shocked; he is cracking jokes, he is actually laughing and smiling. "Where to now cause I am hungry now?" "Quick stop at the bookstore." "Fuck don't tell me you are going to read too?" "Yes, I am going to read."

"It looks it's about a baby who can't wait to be born, or… I don't know. It sounds weird when I say that. It looks cute though." "Let me see." She takes it out of my hand and begins reading through it. "Aw. This is really cute. Wait." She starts giggling and reading outloud. "He started moving down. At first he moved slowly but then he moved fast. What a great ride down the slide! It was fun!" "Why are you laughing?" "That was apparently Peanut's version of being born." "Really?" I take the book back and read through that page. "I'm gonna guess that's not the way his mom remembers it."

They’re making me look like a freaking clown, seriously. We stopped by in Starbucks to eat some snacks. The store was full but we manage to get a seat for the three of us. It’s weekend so it’s expected to be crowded.

There are history books, Psychology books, Biographies even novels. Like actual novels. My eyebrows lift slowly as my eyes glaze over some of the titles as I picked one and flipped over them. “Well this is deeply upsetting.”I murmur under my breath. “What is?”Mercer says his voice sounds amused behind me. “You being literate.”I say in a mocking tone and that earns me a low laugh from somewhere near the kitchen and once again the sound lands directly in my chest. God I love his laugh! It’s dangerous but everything about this man feels dangerous in the most unfairly attractive way possible. I pull one of the books halfway from the shelf before freezing.
