" (he will be handsome afterall ,he has gone on his father) Dad said proudly to which mom started laughing loudly, like dad had just cracked a very funny joke. I was looking at mom to dad and dad to mom, while standing there like a statue on my place. Dad's looked offended at this, as his face become red out of anger, and this time he snapped at mom. "Why are you laughing like a mad woman? What is here to laugh?" dad asked mom while gritting his teeth. "I am laughing becoz, mistakenly I heard you saying that Advay's handsome-ness has gone on you." Mom said still giggling.

"Whatever it is, we'll figure it out together, okay? Your old man's got your back, always have, and always will." President Bolting even tried cracking a few of his signature dad jokes, hoping to lighten the mood. "Hey, remember when you were six and ate that entire tub of Rocky Road ice cream? And then you promptly puked it all over Mr. Snuggles, your favorite stuffed bear? Poor guy looked like he'd been through a chocolate warzone!" His attempts at humor fell flat as Serena continued to sob. The man’s brow furrowed with concern. It had been years since he'd seen his daughter this upset.

I nodded again. "Now let's go check if your dad is still alive in Eliana's grip." We got back to see Elaina and my dad laughing about something he had said. "Hey, guys," I said, walking up to them. "What's so funny?" My dad looked up at me, still grinning. "Oh, nothing," he said. "Just reminiscing about old times." Eliana nodded in agreement. "Your dad was telling me some stories about when you were a kid," she said, a mischievous glint in her eye. "Some embarrassing ones."

“Don’t mind him, he does that all the time, we met at a small cafe, I was quite clumsy and, in a rush, when I bumped my coffee all over him.” His mom chuckled, probably buying the story, “thank goodness you did, he really needs to start having small bathroom breaks from work, he is just like his father, trapped in their workplace, what was his reaction?” Great, more lies... “It was epic, he was really mad...” I let a small laugh to make my story quite believable. “That’s enough mom, let’s enjoy the dinner before it gets cold, you know dad gets cranky when his meal isn’t given to his taste.”

He reassured me. Mom's eyes lit up at that. "Oh, I can't wait to spend the day with them. Your father's been practicing his storytelling skills, haven't you, dear?" She murmured, turning to my dad. Dad puffed up his chest proudly. "That's right. Those little ones are going to hear all the tales I grew up with. Might even throw in a few embarrassing stories about their mother for good measure." He said, winking at me. "Dad!" I protested, but I couldn't help the laugh that bubbled up. For a moment, the tension in the room eased, and it felt almost like a normal family breakfast.

" Actually dad, bhai has a surprise for you." " Shut up !! Sid. " I said glaring at him and he laughed. " What is the surprise?? " Dad looked at me with amusement. " Dad, it is a surprise... " Sid said. " You have found a new mom for yourself, who cooks amazing food ? " He said and laughed at his own joke. My dad has a weird sense of humor... " Hey, dad bingo !!! You are quite close.. " Sid said. My dad chocked on his food... I shook my head and gave water to him.

I said grinning. " Shut up, Sid !! " Bhai said glaring at me and I laughed. " What is the surprise?? " Dad looked at him with amusement. " Dad, it is a surprise! " Sid said. " Have you found a new mom for yourself, who cooks amazing food? " He said and laughed at his own joke. My dad has always had a weird sense of humour... " Hey, dad... bingo !!! You are quite close. " I said. Dad choked on his food. Bhai shook my head and gave water to him. He drank and looked at us with shock.

However, me and my mom got creative just to poke fun at the old man. The funny thing about this whole selective amnesia thing is that me and my mom have the power to laugh at dad’s picture whenever and however we want. We made this backstory that dad died in a stampede at a strip club and while it’s pretty hilarious, it’s also ironic because dad just left us for his stripper woman. “Some hateful bitch sprayed something on my eye at work.” I spat. “HAHAHA, for real?” Jayler was laughing and it’s nice to see him like that. “What did you do?”

Dad stared at those awards and started drinking heavily, polishing off one bottle after another. When he got drunk, he started to hear things. He kept thinking he heard me crying out, "Dad, I'm cold. Dad, I can't climb any further. Dad, don't leave me behind." "Ugh! Stop talking! Stop it!" Dad covered his ears and stumbled wildly around the room, knocking over a vase and overturning chairs.

"First time I'd ever seen Dad cry since the time I scraped my knee falling off my bike when I was four." She stifles a laugh. "That's what good fathers do, sugar. They show up." Mae refills my coffee. "Now eat up before those eggs get cold."
