Dragged Into a Group Chat
The girls were playing by the shore, their laughter as cheerful as seagulls.
I lay on a beach chair, staring at my phone screen, and clicked on that group chat for one last look.
Evelyn's profile was still in there, but it would never come online again.
"Dad, what are you looking at?" Geraldine ran over, crouching beside me and tilting her head curiously.
I smiled and reached out to ruffle her hair. "It's nothing."
With a swipe of my finger, I kicked my alternate account out of the chat, then hit "Delete Group".
