One of them, the blonde, snapped her head towards me, eyes widening with faint recognition.
She tapped her friend. “A– Abby, I– isn't that Alpha– Alpha Vaelor?”
Her friend, backing me, stood up while mumbling. “What are you even saying? How can Alpha–”
She stilled as she turned back, unable to finish her words.
The blonde took a shaky step backward. “A-Alpha…”
The other tried to recover first. “We can explain–”
“Explain,” I said softly, my voice deathly calm, devoid of emotions.
