His dark curls caught the light, and his golden eyes — flecked with delicate silver — sparkled with bright curiosity as he reached for a block with chubby hands and stacked it with surprising focus. Caelan knelt beside him, his own body fully recovered and radiating a quiet, radiant strength. The soft fullness from pregnancy had faded, leaving him lean and graceful once more, though the mating bite on his neck remained proudly visible. He wore a flowing robe of summer white and silver that moved with him like moonlight on water. The ancient power within him hummed contentedly, moonlight threads drifting protectively around Aether like a constant silver guardian, ensuring the child remained h

Tristan snapped. "05:42," Helena reported. "Eighteen minutes until executions begin." "We can't stop," Saoirse said from the gunner's chair, her hands gripping the controls of the steam-cannons. "If we lose our momentum, the infantry swarms us. They’ll pry us open." Tristan stared at the three glowing blue Aether-shields protecting the walkers. *Aether-shields,* Tristan’s mind calculated. *Pure, refined magic. Kinetic absorption fields. Designed to repel solid mass.*

He glanced around, as if just realizing the casual endearment had slipped out where others might overhear. The Kims were thoroughly occupied with Richard's lesson, while Yuna remained engrossed in her phone. 'That insolent wench has been attempting to infiltrate our thoughts using her inferior and forbidden powers,' Aetherion sneered inside Zavian's mind. 'The audacity of that insignificant creature!'

The impact should have shattered his ribs, but the Null-energy in his blood reacted instinctively, wrapping his torso in a protective emerald shroud that hissed as it ground against the violet static of the shield. "A blunt instrument, Mr. Vane," Cyrus said, his voice as calm as a morning report. "The Vane bloodline has always suffered from a lack of... finesse. You treat the Aether like a hammer. We treat it like a scalpel." The Dance of the Displaced Cyrus flicked his wrist. The silver cane retracted into a slim, vibrating rod of black carbon-fiber.

A way to stop feeling like a spark that could burn me alive at any second. But I didn’t know it would come with a choice like this. A choice to die. I swallowed hard. “What are the redemption rights? To be in the Cidron’s good graces, I mean.” Caelora hesitated. “Well... you’re the Aether. That’s a plus.” “Yeah,” I said bitterly. “I’m the Aether because my kin stole it and fused it into our blood. That’s a crime, not a credential. I don’t think she’ll see that as a charming backstory.”

It had mentioned this word several times, describing the Aetherians as individuals chosen by divine entities to wield unique elemental powers that influenced the very balance of nature. “Legend tells of four primordial mages,” Professor Ealdwine continued, gesturing to the tapestry behind him. “They were the first Aetherians, chosen by the gods. Earth, Fire, Water, and Air were their domains. Each held a unique resonance with their element and could wield it with great mastery. They were guardians of balance, harmony, and the natural world. But over centuries, the purity of their lineage was lost, diluted as their descendants mingled with other species. Today, only a handful of true Aetheria

I won't let him break my family. I close my eyes, praying to the Gods to give me strength! When I opened them a second later, I knew they were purple. I could feel it. The pain! The grief! The power! The Aether. I was Aether! I blur and run to Amaya; pushing her down, I put my hands up. My purple light formed a barrier, blocking the red one. "It's time to play!" I said, letting one of my hands down and offering to Amaya.

“If we fight now, we lose.” Orin gritted his teeth. “And if you go with him, we still lose you.” I turned to him, pressing my hand to his chest. “Not forever.” I prayed that was true. Aetherin clapped his hands once. “Enough sentimentality. Come, Luna.” Nancy moved in front of me. “You’re not taking her.” Aetherin’s gaze darkened, and with a flick of his wrist, a wave of force slammed into her, sending her skidding back.

So, he decided to design one for her. He grabbed his apple pencil and began drawing what was in his mind. He wanted the colors of the ring to pay homage to her, like her name indicated, Athena, fierce and beautiful. He wanted the ring to have yellow, gold, and green details with light specks of black here and there. Gold for the representation of her, the sparkle of the sun, the light that she brought into his life, the star of his night. The richness of the ring should express a general divine gleaming brightness but also Athena's Charis, beauty, vitality, and sparkling attractiveness that she bestowed upon him.

Balanced. Aether. For the first time, the ancient presence did not manifest partially. The sky above the capital folded sideways in full view of thousands. Not violently. Cleanly. A vast vertical seam opened, revealing not light— Not darkness— But an endless expanse of shifting equilibrium. Aether stepped through completely. No disguise. No shifting face. Its form stabilized into something almost human, but carved from shifting stone and mist. The entire city felt it. Not judgment. Not heat. Weight.
