A shadow moves in my peripheral just as my fingers close around my keys and I halt. The parking lot is emptied out, save for a handful of cars and bikes belonging to the factory workers on a shift. I cock my head, wondering if I imagined it. A few seconds of listening assures me that I did and I unlock the car. The lights suddenly flicker. Four times, and it reminds me vaguely of the horror movies I watched when I was little, even if father warned me I would have nightmares after. The air has grown colder and I know deep inside that this has nothing to do with the rain. I reach for the door handle swiftly and notice that the mark on my wrist is peeking out my sleeve, flaring brightly.
