I took a second to indulge in a deep, reassuring breath and then pushed the garage door button. I whack the car in reverse, holding down the break as the door raises way too slowly for my liking. As soon as I judge the door is high enough for the car to scoot under, I plant my foot, and with the wheels literally squealing and smoking, I back out of the garage. A few warriors, probably tracking my scent, instantly flank the car upon hearing the engine roar. Ignoring their shouts, I thunder backwards until I'm able to spin towards the exit and plant my foot down.
