My shoulders tighten in fear and the left corner of the blue-eyed prisoners mouth lifts up in a barely noticeable half smirk, and I zap the bastard. Guards come rushing out of the door at the sounds of the gurgled scream coming out of mister blue-eyes and I zap him again, just for good measure. Seeing there’s nothing going on, they trudge their way back inside. Probably to fill themselves up with whiskey and beer. I walk the line once more, not a single shifter daring to lift its eyes to me, before I make my own way back inside. I can’t help but wonder who is left out there, strong and rebellious enough to let their voice carry all the way to our headquarters.

The computer guru had arrived the Silver Moon palace, but was stopped at the gate by the gate man, the Luna had ordered the gate man, not to allow anyone enter the palace without her approval, but the computer guru, Thomas, kept knocking at the gate, he couldn't go back to where he came from, without getting to see the Alpha, Alpha Gabriel would be his biggest client. And thus could be a life changing opportunity for him, if he does what he knows how to do.

He looked right at Goldman’s mother and pumped his pecks. Pink washed over his mother’s cheeks. She turned her head to face Goldman. “You muscled bound fucker,” his father sneered with resentment. Goldman smiled. The general and Dalton laughed. “Save that shit for your fiancé,” his father said. ------- Sporting a fresh black Triton Bail Bonds shirt and damp hair, Goldman walked down the hall on the third floor in the Garvey Hotel. He was only a few steps away from room 308, when Jodi opened the door. She saw him and quietly pulled the door up, but she didn’t completely close it. Goldman approached her.

Kaelen let out a cry of agony, his wolf-form flickering and dying. He fell to the grey dust at the base of the gate, the salt-sword at his throat. “Pay the toll, Kaelen,” the Sentinel commanded. “Give the Sisters your soul, and the girl may pass.” I stepped forward, the red-gold scales on my arms glowing with a lethal, incandescent light. I didn't reach for Kaelen; I reached for the Gate. I realized then that the gate wasn't made of stone and bone. It was made of Despair. It was a physical manifestation of the trauma that the First Alpha had cast out into the Void.

“So Frostfang thought the route was clear.” “Yes.” Rowan spoke from behind Evelyn. “But it wasn’t.” Vale looked at him. “No.” Thunder rolled somewhere beyond the mountains, low and distant. Warren crouched closer. “How did it get through the gate?” Vale’s eyes flicked to the map pinned to the shed wall. “Eastern gate runs on layered confirmation. Visual flag from outer ridge. Radio code from patrol. Then approach pattern. Vehicles stop at three points before the gate opens.” Caleb’s voice came softly from outside the shed door. “That sounds… organized.”

His coat was torn, his jaw bruised, but he stood like a soldier who’d already won the war. “Ronan?” My voice came out a whisper. “How—?” “The Gate doesn’t just open one door,” he said. “It opens all of them.” He stepped closer. The air between us crackled. My mark responded instantly — a flare of red and gold, answering some invisible thread that connected us. I backed away. “You shouldn’t be here.” He gave a low, humorless laugh. “Funny. Vale said the same thing about you.” “Vale—” I started, but the name caught in my throat. “He didn’t make it through?”

They all shuddered at his ruthlessness. “How can we trust you that you will also let our world go?” Arlen asked. “After all, our world still has the Gate.” he said. They nodded in agreement with what Arlen said. “You don’t know?” Nicht looked at them in surprise. “You only have to kill the guardian of the Gate so that the Gate would also disappear.” He answered. They were stunned. Nicht maliciously smiled. “So you don’t know…” he muttered. “The Gate only appears because someone was born to guard it. In short, its guardian was born.” He said. “Kill its guardian and the Gate disappears!” he told them.
