Gates Of Fire Novels & Stories

she agreed. I didn’t run. I didn’t have to. When the thing you love is a fire in your chest, your legs move because the body knows what it’s for. I took the stairs two at a time, Ghost on my shoulder and Snake a pace behind, Hacker counting off doors to open or weld shut. “Security gate S-3 unlocking,” he said. “S-4 welded. Don’t take S-4 unless you want to meet a torch.” “Don’t be cute,” Ghost told him.

“These men… they have more than they know what to do with. And they’re looking for… novelty.” The taxi pulled up to an imposing wrought-iron gate, flanked by stone pillars that stood so tall that one could have sworn it scraped the sky. A security guar waved them through without a word, his gaze lingering a fraction too long on Elara’s exposed décolletage. The car glided up a long, winding driveway, revealing a sprawling estate bathed in the soft glow of amber lights.

The gates of the haven creaked open as Rowan gave a low whistle, a signal that seemed both secret and ancient. Two guards emerged from the mist, their cloaks heavy with dew, their faces shadowed by hoods. At first, Evelynn’s chest tightened—ready for danger—but when the guards saw Rowan, they bowed their heads without question and pulled the stone-carved doors wider.

Wolves slammed the gates shut behind the flames, iron bar dropping with a final, brutal clang. Selena's eyes gleamed in the inferno. "Let them choke on it." They watched from the parapet as the fire gutted the orchard gate, licking up the old timbers until the last shrieks faded into the hush of falling ash. Wolves crouched along the wall, blades still drawn, as if the flames might not be enough to keep the dead from rising. Cassius leaned against the rampart, blood seeping through the tear in his sleeve. "How many?"

The air at the edge of the western reservoir didn’t just burn; it felt like inhaling liquid glass. We had reached the true heart of the Western Rift’s geothermal network—a colossal, subterranean sea of pressurized, black water trapped beneath a massive, arched ceiling of weeping granite. Giant, rusted iron sluice gates, forged generations ago by the first northern packs, groaned under the immense hydrostatic pressure of the boiling depths behind them. If those gates failed before Vance’s teams secured the catalyst charges, the entire boiling sea would sweep down into the lower valleys, drowning our newly unified capital in a scalding deluge.

I didn't understand what was happening to me. It was as if the closer she got to me, the less my brain worked, until I was thinking with nothing but my dick. Then we finally reached the nearest pack. It wasn't really hard for us to get inside anymore. The tall gates that had once stood, securing the entire area, had been destroyed by the missiles. Fires still burned in the distance. Fallon looked around before letting out a sigh. I watched her lips part as she exhaled. Then my eyes slowly drifted down to her neck.

Grace Smoke. Thick, black, unforgiving smoke coils through the air outside the window, as if the sky itself has caught fire. My palms press against the cold glass, eyes wide, heart hammering violently inside my chest. Something exploded. The cars in the distance are on fire. But that’s not the only thing burning. The guards at the front gates are down. Some of them are moving, crawling, others are eerily still. Flames lick the edges of the outer wall. The scent of blood and burning wood reaches me even from behind closed windows. My breath catches in my throat.

I let the power of fire course through me as I tried to find any way to break from his grip. I was at a complete disadvantage. He had me pinned against him. My legs locked against the wall. I was no way to move out of his hold. The only way to get out was to hurt him and run. I let the fire course through me as I gripped him tighter. The heat burned into him, but he refused to pull away. Driven by something I had never witnessed before. Just as the smell of burning flesh filled my nose, the door swung open. Garren's eyes widened in surprise before he saw the fear in my eyes. The purple in his eyes glowed brightly.

we watched a couple of episodes of Naruto before passing out. ====================== “According to reports from reporters on the scene the CFD continues to try to contain the fire. A five-alarm fire at a warehouse on Noble Street. According to witnesses and reporters, two firefighters are injured from Station 19. They are being transported to the nearest hospital for treatment” I look up in shock when I hear the news I look up at the screen. That’s our station. I’m sure Beck was at that fire. I clench my fists. I know I can’t call anyone now, not when they’re busy at a fire. Even if I do call no one would answer.

Saga stumbled towards me and I picked her up just before she tripped over her own feet. “Daddy,” she said and took my hand. “Kiran,” Adara said and I looked down. There were green flames dancing between my hand and Saga’s. I looked down at them in wonder, this feeling was magnificent, the power that ran through me. I looked at Adara as Saga took my face in both her little hands and it went through me with a force. I was covered in blue flames and the memories spilled into my mind like a train rushing through it, emotions, history, pain, regret, love, hatred, everything coming back to me at once.
