"Didn't you even think to ask before you destroyed it?" Livia looked away, playing the victim again. My father's face settled back into pure rage. "It's just a damn rock! Suck it up and apologize!" I smiled at him, savoring the words I was about to say. "Father, that amulet was the key to the blessing ceremony. It's written clearly in your alliance treaty with Alpha Kaelen. The moonstone is required tomorrow to read the omens for the pact. Without it, the ceremony can't even start."

The smell of my mate. The smell of home. Wait, had I formed a mating bond with him without realising it? Oh, Goddess. I squeezed my eyes shut and bit down hard on my lip, trying to punish myself for how I felt at that moment. My father's death wish had finally come through—I had managed to get myself mated to a man. I'd heard mates could also hear each other's thoughts. Was that why we could communicate through thoughts in that battle?

A few drops of blood dripped into a porcelain dish. Bowen then pulled out a packet of powder and sprinkled it into the dish. Instantly, the blood turned a purplish-black. His brows furrowed deeply. "Veilroot Bloom. This is a poison so rare that it hasn't been seen in a century. It's colorless, odorless, and slow-acting." Shocked and furious, I asked, "Where did this poison even come from?" "The plant grows deep in the mountains, and people generally can't get their hands on it."

As we reached the peak, the gold and emerald light of our resonance flared with such visceral power that the magma in the nearby pool momentarily froze into glass. "You're the hilt, Emma," Félix rasped, his forehead resting against mine. "And I’m the hand. Nothing is taking you away." The forge was a massive, circular platform made of Memory-Silica and Cold-Iron. I took my place at the center, the Seven-Fold Vessel floating before me. "START THE CYCLE!" I roared. One by one, the essences were released. First, Solis. A beam of pure, golden solar-fire erupted from the vessel, turning the grotto into a second sun. I took the heat into my left hand, my skin turning a translucent, glowing amber.

Merlin comes back over with three round gems, “Now, I wouldn’t make you carve the setting, I could magic that for you, but maybe one of these, here?” She hums thoughtfully and looks at the gems he’s chosen. They were all smooth circular cabochons; there was a fire agate, a fire opal, and a dragon’s breath opal, which she knows is just fancy glass. But the hints of blue spoke to her, she picks it up and places it where he had suggested, she tilts her head and pulls out Kai’s gift too.

he said, “can you tell us about the origins of the gemstones used in the ‘Tears of the Mermaid’? They’re quite unique.” I nodded, grateful for a question I was ready to answer. “The gemstones were gotten from the Astral pack,” I explained. “I traveled there myself to find materials that truly captured the essence of the ocean’s depth and mystery. Each stone was chosen for its clarity and brilliance.” There were murmurs of approval, but another reporter quickly jumped in. “The Astral pack? Isn’t that where you were rumored to be marrying Alpha Mason?” The question hit the crowd like a bolt of lightning. Gasps echoed around the room, followed by a rush of whispers.

Near them, thin green cords connected the base of the forge to the magic tool that provided it with energy: the gem pannel. Gem panels were thin circular sheets of amethyst enchanted with [Low energy gathering], those were on a frame of jade that transmitted the energy towards the forge. “My mate, Amelia, Dane, and his mate Kailin. Ren and Theia, our friends. Let’s get out of here.” We finally settled in, and the jet started to take off. Amelia linked to me. “Are you sure you can trust them?” “Nope, but we needed strong men, but if they act weirdly, you know what to do.” We had refreshments with our guests and had a little conversation. “So what are we digging?” Guston asked. “Sphalarites. The only gemstone that can protect us from demons.” “Demons?” He froze for a moment. His eyes widened at me. “Are you fucking with me, Alpha Ryden?”

“The most temperamental stone on the planet.” Jenny gasped. “Wait, the electric-blue one?” “Yes,” I said tightly. “The one that fractures under high heat and changes color if you so much as look at it wrong.” Grace let out a low whistle. “They’re giving us a gemstone that’s basically a ticking bomb.” “Great,” Gideon muttered. “Because what we really needed this year was a metaphor for emotional instability.” I shot him a glare. He winked. Ryan skimmed the letter, then looked up, meeting my eyes.
