Gwen’s hands went up to her hair, and she pulled at it aggressively. “So then, how does this work? Will I turn into a werewolf too?” she asked, and Xander shook her head negatively. “You are what you are forever,” he said, taking her face in his hands and staring deep into her eyes. “And that is mine,” he said before pressing his lips to hers. I looked away because, for some reason, it felt as though I was invading their privacy, even though this was technically PDA. My gaze fell on Brenda, and she had a worried look on her face.

I looked like a ghost who had crashed a ball she didn’t belong at. Liam was pacing again, his hands running through his hair every few seconds, muttering things I couldn’t make out. Every once in a while, he’d stop and glance at me like he wanted to say something but didn’t trust himself to. Xves hadn’t moved from where he stood — a few feet away, near the columns, shadows carving sharp lines across his face. His shirt was torn near the shoulder, streaked with a faint smear of blood. He looked dangerous like that — calm and unreadable, but coiled tight under the skin.

Xander had a mischievous smirk on his face when he lifted my chin up, locking my eyes onto his. “Look me in the eyes and say that you don't want to touch you.” I couldn't lie to his face, it was practically impossible. I was standing bare before him like an open book. He could read my every thought through my eyes, and the eyes don't lie. Xander suddenly began to lean in closer, it was obvious that he was leaning in for a Kiss. I just couldn't bring myself to push him away, I just stood there rooted to the ground, my eyes widened and my eyes boring deeply into his.

It would quite literally be a house inside the Compound. I looked for Xander in our shared suite, and he wasn't there, so I went next door to his suite and knocked, not wanting to give Chef Lo Faso instructions if Xander had already done it. I didn't look for Elias, knowing he was still at work. Not finding Xander, I went downstairs to speak with the chef when I saw him walking toward us, talking to another tall, good-looking man. "Oh, Kalyssa!" Xander reached for me as he approached, and then kissed my cheek. "This is Gray Garza, Alpha Supreme of the Western Region. Gray, this is my betrothed, Dr. Kalyssa Carran, veterinarian."

The rest of the family had no choice but to follow, and Shane, unable to stop them, had to grit his teeth and trail behind. Mr. Xander stopped a short distance away and barked out, “Who are you?” The woman’s voice floated in on the wind, light but cutting. “Three years, and you still don’t recognize me?” She slowly turned, slipping off her sunglasses to reveal her face. A smile played at her red lips. “Mr. Xander. Long time no see.” “Ahh!” Shane screamed, ducking behind Chris. “Ghost! Oh my God, we’ve seen a ghost!”

“Looks like I have to step in again. Your dear boyfriend, Agatha? Is the son of a Russian Mafia named Raphael Rimbro. His parents lived in Russia where as his sister and he studied in the US before she moved here in Italy, just a week before Xander showed up. And a week after Xander’s death, he does too, including his whole family. His full name, is Augustus Raphael Rimbro.” Gustav smiles smugly, finding the whole scene amusing while Agatha stands there with her head bowed down, silent tears cascading down her eyes. For the first time in her life, she found love, found someone she cared for, only for all of it to be fake. Everything a lie.

Only, her fingers curl into the fabric of his shirt instead. “Oh shit,” Hex mutters, sipping her drink like this is the best thing she’s seen in weeks. Ghost’s hand drifts under Rose’s shirt, fingers grazing her skin, and she doesn’t flinch away. Instead, she leans in, lips brushing his jaw as her free hand rises to his shoulder.

“Do all girls read The Great Gatsby? And would you consider it weird for a guy if you knew he’s read the entire thing cover to cover ten times in one year?” I read my reply, “I’ve read it more than twenty times already, so that obsession is very welcome. Oh, the only thing hotter than a gentleman is a gentleman that reads.” His reply: “You’d be glad to know I draw too.” “Well, let’s just say the back of my thumb is pressed to my forehead from the hit that is.” I’d added laughing emojis and cute hearts, too. “My name is Genevieve; Genevieve Carlyle.” “Is it bad if a guy swoons too? Ghost laughed, spun his battleaxe, and prepared for another attack. “Oh man!” a voice came from within the tempest, followed by a chuckle. Although it was a light chuckle, it sent shockwaves down Ghost’s spine. “What? How?!” Ghost yelled. A great flurry of punches came, and quickly dispersed the flurry of axes. “Weak!” Zephyr scoffed, while he shook his head, not having moved an inch. “Impossible! How could you…” Ghost cried. “Impossible? Nothing is impossible for Zephyr Khan!”

He then spoke, pointing at Ghost, who by the way was still bouncing around in the flowers. Oh crap, I totally forgot about him! I mentally slapped myself, then turned to the side, “Oh my god, Ghost, get back here!” I shouted at the crazed husky. “Ghost?” The guy instantly asked confused. “Yeah, she’s a total Game of Thrones fan,” Kara explained giggling. “Oh...” He mumbled, while I was still looking at Ghost, who was heading towards me, but suddenly stopped in his tracks and started howling like a crazed wolf.
