I ask, looking over my shoulder at the empty open door. “Artemis and I have been texting the whole time he has been gone. I know you have probably been texting him, too. But…this is the first time he has reached out first and I think I said something stupid and now he isn’t responding and I don’t know what to do.” She spews the words so fast I can barely keep up, but when I process them, my heart falls. He truly is ghosting me. “Okay…well what did you say?” I ask, my chest aching and tears threatening my eyes.

When they’d said good night, Charlie concluded that he was too shy to ask in person so she awaited his text. His last text was ; “Hope you got home safe.” To which she replied - “yes I did, thanks for an amazing night.” He left her on read and had not texted or called since then. Mr. Black had ghosted her. Charlie felt a flush of anger. She stood up from her chair and paced around her room for a few minutes till she came to a stop in front of the brown wall clock. She looked up at it and began airing her grievances to it.

I growled lowly in frustration and lowered the phone from my ear when it ended without her answering. It was the second day and she's still ghosting me. Even at work today, Chloe never said anything to me but rather, avoided my every presence! She was giving me the silent treatment which is undoubtedly beginning to take a toll on me. So I raised the phone halfway up with my eyes glued to the phone screen and began typing. 'Chloe am sorry, please text back or call.' That was the only message I could send to her. Then my phone beeped with an incoming text just as I was about lowering it beside me on the bed.

SAMANTHA He ghosted me. He actually ghosted me. I paced my apartment like a crazy person, bare feet slapping against the cold floor, my phone clenched tight in my hand. A week. Seven full days. No text. No call. Not even a glance on campus. Just... silence. I stopped pacing long enough to glare at my phone. Still nothing. And she was afraid of the dark. "Richard, see? I told you Selena was lying. If this were really a funeral, why is nobody here? This is obviously another stunt to get you to come home." It is highly unlikely that I will ever see him again; I can safely say that he has ghosted me. My mood has changed just because his name was brought up; I'm fascinated with him, even though I know I should have moved on by now. I pull up his texts on my phone and go through them. I have been attempting to determine what caused him to terminate their communication, and I have been looking for hints as to what led him to come to that conclusion. I'm in such a drunken haze that I manage to send him a text message, but thank God I'm not so intoxicated that I really send it.

Without a second thought, I typed out a message to Ghost, my fingers tapping fast against the screen. I had no idea what to do about it and when you texted me later that night, I didn’t want to ghost you like Chad probably would have done.” Boston stilled his thumb at the same time as the words dried up. He swallowed hard. His gaze burned into mine, both of us waiting for my brain to kick into gear and get caught up to speed with what he was trying to tell me. Problem was, that same sentence just kept spinning round and round my brain, making me dizzy and making it impossible to do the math. Chad gave me Boston’s number? “So . . .” I began, cutting myself off when the lines in Boston’s forehead deepened.

Right now, what it wanted to do was to touch her willing flesh. He raised his trembling hand and caressed the soft flesh of her firm breast with the tip of his coarse fingers.
