WILLOW There are white chalk marks adorning the middle of the room. Candles burn from different corners of the room. Ginny had lit the candles with wordless magic, impressing everyone. All of this feels like something out of a seer’s shrine. And there’s also the way midnight has, of making everything seem deeper. More eerie. The air is filled with excited chatter and the smell of alcohol. Someone turned off the speakers a while ago. Everyone watches as Ginny extracts a crystal ball from her purse. She goes about setting it up like a pro. Once she finishes, she sits down in the middle of the chalk patterns, legs tucked beneath her.
