I growled. "So you're making decisions like this behind our backs now?" His voice annoyed me, and I could feel Solum shaking. He was scared. I have seen Goblins before on my trips to the world of men. They were monstrous in size, some the size of the house, but this one… Solum's just a kid. "Answer me, Gabriel!!" Magnus ordered. Selene held his hand, trying to pull him back, but he was beyond reasoning. I looked into his eyes, and all I could see was pure hate.

Vino replied in an undertone. "Look," Zac whispered to Ivana. "A goblin!" Ivana's sharp eyes had glimpsed the small creature hiding against the craggy stalagmites. Nerida had seen the goblin, too. She flew over and rendered him completely still. "Why are you skulking here?" Orlando questioned quietly. The creature had rolling eyes and wide mouth. His arms and legs were thin. His feet and hands were the size of his head. He had three fingers and two toes. He was badly disproportioned.

But someone moved, with the wind and Selene's magic shattered on a force. I sank to the floor, gasping, as the man in front of me straightened. He has dark eyes and chiselled facial features. He had a strong, powerful aura around him. He turned half-way, and for one brief moment, I glimpsed it. A goblin face flitted across his features then disappeared. I sucked in my breath. "You're that goblin." "The name's Daemon," he said. Daemon's expression did not change, but his eyes twinkled.

He had forgotten that he was a Goblin, and Goblins were much smaller, at least according to the stories from his previous world. The big Goblin walked over to Will, and with a proud look on his face he patted the helmet. He then let out a short grunt while pointing at the helmet. Will looked confused for a second but wondered if the grunt from the Goblin was actually the word for helmet. Will tried repeating the grunt. The Goblin looked surprised at Will for a second, then he chortled and patted Will on the head. The Goblin went into a corner in the room and grabbed a piece of dried meat from a small stone bowl, he brought it back to Will and threw it in front of him. Will grabbed it and fer

The student glanced up but saw nothing above. Gildeon did. Ghulik was up there, clinging to the ceiling like some grotesque insect. Thick strings of saliva dangled from his gaping maw. He’d doubled in size. Veins bulged beneath his pale gray skin, pulsing like trapped worms. His eyes glowed crimson, the pupils now gone. ‘Ghulik!’ Gildeon called out, telepathically. Nothing. The goblin didn’t flinch. Its gaze darted across the crowd below, scanning for the next victim.

She took a yellowed photograph from our mother's hand and returned to the table. She set it before Dante. Three little girls stood in the Rossi garden. Anna and I flanked either side. Between us stood a smaller girl, half a head shorter. Her hair hung in loose tangles, and her dress was plain. Her face was unforgettable. Even as a child, she was devastatingly beautiful. A cross-shaped scar marked her left ankle, distinct as a brand. Dante studied the photograph for a long moment. Something shifted in his expression. "This girl," he said slowly. "Those eyes. That bone structure."

He was a huge wolf with gray, black, and brown fur on top and white fur on his bottom half. I was stunned and beyond embarrassed. Before I had a chance to look away in shame, he glanced at me for a moment, then used his mouth to pick up his shorts from the ground and broke into a run, heading back through the woods from where I had come.
