Arlen could not comprehend what was going on until his eyes opened and he saw four green-looking faces staring down at him. These were goblins- unsightly creatures formed from cultivational practices gone wrong. Despite their lack of good height, they did not pass at being cruel. They used to be common in Cloverdale, where they would steal children and the elderly. Standing on two feet like humans, they had shapeshifting abilities they used to lure their victims. Arlen could barely breathe as a three-foot-long tongue drooled beside him. "Hold him down. I'll get the knife," a voice he could liken to that of the innkeeper spoke.

The creature’s teeth look sharp enough to tear flesh from bone, I shiver as its bright, red eyes meet mine. It’s then that I notice the smell, more putrid than a chamber pot, but somehow its appearance is more disgusting. Green, wrinkly skin, dry and chapping. The strange armor adorning it does not hide nearly enough, its face alone makes me want to wretch. “Goblin?” I ask, subconsciously leaning away. Ghost rears up, nearly dumping me off his back, before taking off. The goblin screams behind us, a horrible, angry sound. I don’t look back, as I struggle to keep a grip on my ride; I don’t need to for long.

“Sera, look at this.” “This is bad. We should contact the commander.” She noticed that one of the goblins had a slightly bluish skin and a small horn on their head. It was a stronger species, an evolved goblin called a hobgoblin. Newbies can handle a single hoblin but a horde would be fatal. Team Alpha recovered enough to move. Sera and Sven were about to inform them to retreat when the earth rumbled violently.

“Look down, Half–my lady.” Instinctively, her eyes met with a purple-colored goblin with red eyes. She wanted to scream and run, but flashes of memories in her dream made her stop. She was indeed familiar with the stature of the creature from her sketches. All she could do was widened her eyes in an attempt to get shocked or scared. But weirdly, she was not afraid even if her mind told her to get nervous. “What-what are you? I swear I saw your kind in my dreams.”

I cleaned all the blood on his body, trying hard to stay focused since this was the second time I'd be seeing his body in the space of hours. “What happened?” I asked, wondering why his wounds wouldn't heal voluntarily. “Was it my advice that put you in this situation?” “No.” He chuckled, looking up at me as I stitched his body. His face got closer to mine, and it got several times harder to concentrate. I could feel my chest tighten as I swallowed hard. “What happened then?” I inquired, feeling very concerned. “I fought the faceless Luna.” He said, and my eyes widened. I don't know who that is, but she sounds scary.

Gobar chimed and I could sense the laugh in his voice as rage surged up from the pits of my belly to water the desert that was my mouth. My face! My beautiful, pale face! Was going to become something disfigured! Something that made maidens shriek with horror when they gazed upon me. No! I couldn't have it! How the hell was I supposed to get Raya back looking like Gobar did? I didn't realize the thug shadowlings had moved away to the entrance of the cave to watch us quietly until Gobar stood over me, panting from something that seemed more like arousal than excitement and I swallowed heavily.

"Then come with me." They were witches though, so why does her heart beat as though she was meeting a monster. Witches were warm creatures just as Zeres had explained.
